A summit to discuss the issue of population decline in Argyll and Bute has been postponed.

The event was due to be held in Dunoon tomorrow (Friday May 9).

On Wednesday, however, Argyll and Bute Council announced that it had been deferred to a future date because the keynote speaker, John Swinney, Minister for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth had to attend a funeral.

A spokesman for Argyll and Bute Council said: “He remains keen to be involved in the work we are doing to build a prosperous future for Argyll and Bute.

“Therefore in order to secure the opportunity to bring local and national expertise and experience together, the council leadership has taken the decision to postpone the event on Friday and reschedule it for a date to be announced towards the end of the year.”

Surely he knew of funerals before this.General concern around here that you are putting it off now for so long which gives impression there are other reasons.I personally was not at all happy that I had not an invite after Bering at firsdt meeting in Rothesay and wanting to follow it through.Cheers Ellen
