AFTER years of campaigning, MV Coruisk (above) finally entered service on the Dunoon-Gourock route this morning (Thursday).
She will undertake two return sailings in the morning (Leaving Dunoon at 7.15am and 8.20am) and two evening return sailings (Leaving Gourock at 4.50pm and 6.50pm) Moday to Saturday.
She will also be on standby all day Sunday, and at other times until the end of the winter timetable at the end of March 2014.
In 2012 Transport Scotland officials told Infrastructure Minister Nicola Sturgeon that the vessel would not be able to complete the Cowal crossing within the timetable.
However, Ms Sturgeon announced in the Scottish Parliament earlier this year that Coruisk would, after all, be able to act as a winter replacement for the lightweight Ali Cat.
