PLANS to provide no Post Office services at Dunoon’s main counter, within the Queen Street Co-op, during a refurbishment have been reversed.
Following representations from politicians and community groups, including Dunoon Community Council, Post Office Ltd has now agreed to provide a temporary Post Office counter within the store providing a full range of services.
Innellan and Hunter’s Quay post offices were offered as alternatives, but led to objections.
A Post Office spokesperson said today (Friday): "In order to minimise inconvenience during the refurbishment of Dunoon Post Office a temporary counter will be installed. Customers will be able to obtain all Post Office services from this serving point, including car tax.
"The existing fortress counter will remain open on Saturday 28th and Monday 30th. The temporary service point is being installed on September 25 and will be operational from Tuesday October 1, and open from 9am to 5pm; it will be operated by Post Office staff."
