LOCAL health chiefs met in Lochgilphead today (Thursday) to discuss their proposed closures of Struan Lodge care home in Dunoon and Rothesay’s Thomson Court dementia day centre – and the closures have been ‘paused’ for six months to allow a ‘formal engagement and involvement process’.

The reprieve for the centres follows a public outcry after the Integration Joint Board decided to close the centres without consultation.

The lengthy special meeting of the IJB resolved to ask Argyll and Bute Council to cover the £185,000 cost of the six-month reprieve.

More in Friday’s Standard.
