A LARGE home crowd was treated to a fine display from the home side at the Winterton, Inveraray on Saturday. Goals from Gary MacPherson, Euan McMurdo, Grant Griffin and a second half hat-trick from Russell MacKinlay were enough to see off a strong Glenurquhart team, despite the visitors taking an early two goal lead in this Scottish Hydro Premier Division tie.

On Sunday April 4, badminton players from Dunoon, Oban, Campbeltown and Mid Argyll competed in the Under-19 Championships in the Queen’s Hall, Dunoon.

Marine Harvest South Division 2 ColGlen 1 Strachur 1
ColGlen and near-neighbours Strachur met in Glendaruel last Saturday for the first time this season, in what turned out to be an excellent old fashioned shinty derby – with true grit and plenty of entertainment.

This winter has proved to be challenging for outdoor sports, not least for the two local clay target clubs, the Dunoon and District Clay Target Club and the Glendaruel and Colintraive Gun Club.

A Dunoon man has been given the honour of captaining a Great Britain and Ireland professional golf team against the USA next year. Russell Weir, the much-respected professional at Cowal Golf Club, was told of his selection on Tuesday by the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA).
