IAIN HOSACK DIES AT 105
LOCHGOILHEAD resident Iain Hosack has died aged 105.
Mr Hosack died in Dunoon Hospital on Saturday (August 21) after a fall in his home. The South African, born of Scottish parents, started a branch of the Scottish National Party in Natal in 1946. He did the same in Lochgoilhead in 1969, and remained active in the party until his death.
He was an active church member, and the former Session Clerk fulfilled his door duties until well after his 100th birthday.
The retired banker often performed the function of treasurer to village organisations. As Honorary Treasurer of the local branch of the RNLI over many years he was praised by its Scottish Chairman as the most meticulous bookkeeper that organisation had encountered.
We extend our deepest sympathies to his daughter Elspeth and son Neil.
