Two Loch Eck-side homes were badly damaged by fire on Monday evening.
The end home of four properties at Alt-na-Blathaich, near Whistlefield caught fire shortly after 6.30pm.
The occupants of the house and two neighbouring properties were evacuated to the fourth home by police and fire officers while they tackled the blaze. No one was injured in the fire but the occupants of two of the houses have had to make alternative accommodation arrangements due to extensive interior and exterior damage.
A Strathclyde Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "At 18.32 three fire appliances - two from Dunoon and one from Strachur Community Fire Station - were mobilised to a fire in two semi-detached bungalows at Alt Na Blathaich, Loch Eck, Dunoon.
"The Incident Commander very quickly assessed the dangerous situation; a growing fire in the roof space of both bungalows. There was a risk of rapid fire spread and injury to individuals who may have been in the bungalows because of the large amount of smoke being generated.
"The Incident Commander deployed three firefighting teams to extinguish the fire and search the bungalows. Firefighters using breathing apparatus searched both bungalows and confirmed that the residents had been evacuated and then extinguished the fire within the roof space.
"The Incident Commander also contacted the police and ambulance services as part of a multi agency approach, Firefighters are currently still in attendance assisting with the multi agency approach to get the situation under control and return the area to normality as quickly as possible."
