A WOMAN injured in the storm of January 3 remains in hospital fighting for her life.

Kathleen Sunley (56) of Grangetown near Middlesbrough was in bed in her sister Ann’s caravan at Stratheck Holiday Park near Dunoon when the winds of up to 100mh began to howl.

A neighbouring caravan was lifted into the air by the fierce gusts – and smashed into Ann’s.

Eight family members - including Kathleen’s husband Thomas, (54) daughter Sharon Mulligan (30) and grandson Kieran Renton (8) – all from Teesside - were in the caravan when tragedy struck.

The family was taken to Dunoon Hospital by ambulance before three were airlifted to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Kathleen remains there, in intensive care, having suffered multiple injuries – including two punctured lungs.

A spokeswoman for Greater Glasgow Health Board told the Standard: “Kathleen Sunley remains in a serious but stable condition at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.”
