MURDER IN DUNOON

Strathclyde Police has now confirmed that a 30-year-old man has died following an incident in Dunoon last night (Thursday). The man is understood to be local.


Police say that at around 8pm they were called to a report of two men, aged 29 and 30 years, who were involved in an altercation in a house in Church Square, Dunoon.

Police and ambulance attended but the 30-year-old man died at the scene.


The 29-year-old man, also understood to be local, was airlifted to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. Hospital staff described his condition as serious but stable. Police are treating his case as one of attempted murder.

Two other men are understood to have received minor injuries.

A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, however, at the time, police are treating the death as murder.

Detective Inspector Ross McCallum said today: “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.
