DUNOON BID - IT'S A YES

After years in the planning, the business community of Dunoon has voted ‘yes’ to the introduction of a Business Improvement District (BID) for the town and surrounding area.
Polls closed on February 28 and the result was announced around midday on Friday March 1, after hours careful checking and re-checking at Argyll and Bute Council, which oversaw the ballot, declared the vote as 136 for and 89 against.
Ahead of the vote, supporters of the scheme said the BID scheme offered the opportunity for Dunoon to find a way back to prosperity and put itself back on the map – led by local business people.
With a new social enterprise company to be formed by the spring and a BID manager to be appointed, the hard work starts now.
