Sandbank Gala was in a new venue this year, Sandbank Primary, and although it was postponed for the second year in a row to the Sunday, the weather turned out to be fantastic resulting in a great turnout from the surrounding communities.
There are so many thanks to give as such a large event depends on a lot of people to ensure a good day is had by all.
Below is a list of people who helped to make the day possible:
All friends, family, Community Council and Trust members for helping out before, after and on the day especially Robert and Alastair Johnston, Kivanc Altin, Joe & Louisa Grant, David McGeachie, Wendy & Iain, Mike & Inge. Eilidh, Laura and the smoothie bike team, Lorraine, Ian, Lisa, Sylvia, Mags, PJ and Margaret for helping on Trust stalls and Zorb balls. Our children, Yasemin, Yeliz, Matthew, Evan, Hollie & David also helped and even litter picked to ensure the school was nice and tidy when we left on Sunday evening. Special thanks to Marie McCormick for help in putting together the gala for the past 4 months.
Bay Ices from Wemyss Bay, Churchills, Billy McGuinness, Dawn Moore and team from the Pit stop for providing food and drinks.
Robert MacGregor, Paul, Laura & Blair, Sally McClure and her line dancers, Gordon Blair and the Young Fiddlers, Gaelic Choir, JoAnne McGeachie Loughlin and her dancers, Mrs Clarke's gymnasts, Ronnie Black for playing the pipes at the last minute for us.
Andy Mac (Chainsaw Craft) for his wood carving demonstration and donating a beautiful piece to our raffle.
All stall holders for coming back the next day and making the gala such a success. Lots of money was raised for very worthy causes (from Sandbank Scouts to Leukaemia Research)
Many thanks also to Tony Stonehouse (JavaWalk) for sponsoring the annual tugowar, Libby's Pet Shop and Carolyn Pearce for the Junior dog show prizes and judging.
PC Church and the Police, Ross MacDonald (Coastguard & photographer!), Fire Service, National Park Rangers, Margaret & Alan Eccles with the ponies (and dogs!)
Robert Davies and Allan Newsome for providing all the children's rides.
Thanks to The Scorpions who won the tug o war trophy this year after Cowal Rugby Club's four year reign and who donated the £100 prize back to the Trust.
Mrs Clarke and all at Argyll & Bute Council (David, Nigel, Dougie, Kevin) for assistance and use of the grounds. HIE and Benmore for use of land for parking and use of marquee. Police for the stalls, ChooseLife for the smoothie bike. Charles Black who every year lends us a truck to use as our stage.
Massive thanks to all local businesses in Sandbank & Dunoon who contributed to our raffle and tombola.
Sandbank Community Development Trust raised over £1000 this year and thanks to everyone who attended and made it such a success.
