Nine-year-old Max, a springer spaniel, took the title in the annual Vets Now Referrals Bravest Pet Awards.

Max was treated at the state-of-the-art Vets Now referrals hospital in Charing Cross, Glasgow, following a referral from Catriona McIntyre at Cowal and Bute Vets, having suffered two consecutive severe illnesses this year.

A tragic death in Innellan, south of Dunoon,  today (Wednesday) has been confirmed by Strathclyde Police as not suspicious.

The police and MCA (coastguard) have updated earlier information regarding yesterday's (Sunday November 25) tragic events on Loch Fyne when a 26-year-old man died in hospital after a kayak capsized.
