POLICE are today (Monday) making a further appeal for information following a reported serious sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl in Dunoon on Thursday (June 28).
Around 11pm the girl was with a friend of the same age on Alexandra Parade, Dunoon when they met two men, who they went for a walk with along the foreshore.
A short time later, the two girls made their way back on their own to a bus stop on Alexandra Parade, where they were seen by a member of the public who, concerned by the way they were acting, called police.
Detective Inspector Douglas Wilson of Dunoon CID said: “This enquiry is at a very early stage and we have still to clarify exactly what happened, however, one of the girls has told police that she was seriously sexually assaulted by one of the men.
“The suspect is described as of Asian appearance, between 19 and 40 years of age, 5ft 5in in height, average build, short dark hair, dark eyes and was wearing a long sleeved purple top.
“He was with a second man, also believed to be of Asian appearance, around 5ft 3 in height, of a heavier build, between 19 and 40 years of age, dark hair and eyes and was wearing a yellow long sleeved top. “Officers have been checking CCTV, speaking to people and carrying out door to door enquiries around the area in an effort to trace the men involved.
“Alexandra Parade is normally quite busy with pedestrians and passing traffic and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area between 10.30 and 11pm on Thursday night to come forward.
“On checking CCTV, we saw at least three dog walkers and two young men in the area at that time. I am in no way connecting them to the incident other than that they might have seen or heard something that will help us with our enquiries.”
Any person with information is asked to contact the CID at Dunoon on 01369 763000. Alternatively, telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 anonymously.
