Bikers in the glen

Dunoon’s Bishop’s Glen saw a fine turnout of mountain bikers for the Scottish Cross Country Mountain Bike racing series on Saturday and Sunday (April 30 and May 1).

 

Pictured is David Duggan, who came second in the Elite/Expert Male category. Riders in this category completed four laps of the course.

Inveraray and District Pipe Band won the Grade One section at the first Virginia International Tattoo American Pipe Band Championships yesterday (Saturday).

A huge fire on a hill above Dunoon's Cowal Place was brought under control this afternoon (Saturday) - fotunately with no injuries or damage to property.

We understand the fire may have been started deliberately.

Argyll and Bute Council has announced this week that Cleland Sneddon, currently executive director of community services, has been appointed as its new chief executive.

 Councillor Dick Walsh, leader of the council said: “We are delighted to welcome Cleland to the role of chief executive of Argyll and Bute Council. Cleland brings a wealth of experience and insight that will serve Argyll and Bute well.
