af0310-12372 fire fighter holds drip as accident victim is stretchered from car

A Dunoon Fire Fighter holds a drip aloft as one of the crash victims is stretchered from her smashed car.

The image above represents just one of the many thought-provoking scenes at Dunoon's ferry terminal tonight (Friday) as Strathclyde Fire and Rescue carried out a real-time  simulation, drawing a  large crowd to witness the horror of a fatal road accident.

Although the scenes were simulated, the tension was palpable as the people charged with extracting us from potentially life-threatening situations demonstrated their myriad skills.

Heaven forbid that we need to call on the services of Cowal's emergency services - but we can rest assured that, if we do;  the police, ambulance, fire & rescue and coastguard heroes are ready and willing to put their lives on the line to save ours.
