THOSE who use the internet will be aware of the power of Google, the world’s most popular search engine.
Google Street View, part of Google Maps, shows photo-realistic images of streets and houses. Previously, only big city views were available but – from today (Thursday) – the project has been rolled-out nationwide - including Argyll..

Google say that 90 per cent of the UK is covered – and this includes much of Cowal. We have confirmed that Dunoon, Strachur, Colintraive and Tighnabruaich are featured. To check if you are there just type your postcode into google and select the Google Maps option.
Ed Parsons, Google's Geospatial Technologist said: “Street View takes mapping to a new level not possible before.
“And with so many practical applications its no wonder that over two thirds of people who had tried the service said they would use Street View again.
“This new imagery of so many stunning British places means it's the ideal time to start planning a trip, kick start a house-hunt or simply ensure you never arrive late to a meeting again.”
