Congratulations to the braveheart kids who turned up last week in cold conditions and still somehow produced a fascinating feast of fun and lively football. The game of the day, undoubtedly, was between Cowal Building and Stewart Shaw, with the game finishing an astonishing 6-6!
All the players had obviously been practising their dribbling skills from last week and first up was Louis Adamson Turnbull’s fine fake, going one way then twisting to turn and go the other, fabulous! Excellent goals were scored by new recruit Keaton Lawrence, Kieran Gillan, Jordan McIlkenny and Scott Gates.
Outstanding in goal for Stewart Shaw was Xavier Gveysmawk who made numerous acrobatic saves, but even he was finally beaten in the very last second when Ewan McIlkenny powered into the box and smashed the ball home to complete a brilliant match!
Congratulations to visitors Alistair Galbraith and Brandon Pennycook for getting stuck in - they were fantastic, considering it was their first match.

Another lively match ensued when Wilson Plumbing squared up to JF Properties and, right from the off, Conor McIlkenny cleverly slipped a lovely well weighted pass through for Derrick McPhee to control and coolly slot home.
The goals were flying in at a fair rate as all the players were performing silky skills, with the pick of the bunch being Kieron Fitzpatrick’s thunderous drive into the top corner. Otherwise the ball would have ended up in Innellan, such was the power!
In another fascinating game, between Scottish Hydro and GTi, newcomer Ryan Campbell showed what an acquisition he will be for the club by scoring not one but two spectacular goals!
Ian Henderson and Cally Whitlock struck up a neat passing pattern and Callum Dick duly finished off in style to score a sensational goal!
DYFL's U10s drew 6-6 with Greenock side Grieve Road. In a thrilling match DYFL's young stars started brilliantly with every player working extremely hard against an experienced Greenock team.
Jordan McIlkenny was inspirational in spurring on his team from midfield while Max McKendrick played another blinder and even scored direct from a corner!
In the second half Grieve Road introduced a new player and this turned the game. As a result a draw was achieved.
The U10s should be happy with their overall play and practice on the training ground will help in retaining the ball when required.
In a cracking match DYFL U11s were outplayed by a very strong Grieve Road side. The effort was there but sadly most of the players had an off day and Grieve Road punished them with some excellent goals.
Credit to our local boys for never giving up and the score could have been different but for a fantastic opposition goalkeeper denying shots from Ewan McIlkenny and Kyle Martin.
DYFL's U15s surprisingly lost 4-3 away from home last week. Considering how well the team have been performing recently, and even though a hard game was anticipated, expectations were still high but a disappointingly slow reaction to the second ball resulted in losing some sloppy goals.
With a home game next week it should provide the perfect platform to return to winning ways again.
DYFL's U16s Blue travelled to Rothesay and probably played their best game of the season.
Winning 1-0 at half-time, with a fabulous individual effort by Kieron Fitzpatrick, and looking solid throughout the team, with goalkeeper Mark Rooney outstanding, it came as a shock when Rothesay suddenly equalised with 20 minutes left after a poor touch let in the Rothesay striker and he rifled the ball in.
Rattled by this and with the home team on the up they deservedly scored two quick goals with great comeback, winning 3-1.
Congratulations to the Blues for another impressive performance and the games just get better and better every week.
DYFL U17s with an injury-hit side lost 2-0 away last week.
