DUNOON hotelier Les Bishop is taking to the saddle - and two wheels - in a motorbike trip across Britain to raise money for two very deserving causes.

ON Monday March 21,  local bowler Angus Sutherland, from Ardentinny, celebrated his 97th birthday by playing his usual weekly game of bowls, and having a small celebratory drink with his friends.

Kyles Athletic currently ply their trade in shinty's top tier, the Premier Division. Few would argue that they are, by now, seasoned campaigners at the level – but they went into Saturday's (March 19) fixture with a degree of wariness given the nature of their opponents.

One game in and Kyles are sitting at the very place they would rather be at the end, rather than the start, of the season – top of the league.
